      Expedia wants to save you money and time when arranging your stay at any of the accommodations in Thailand, so you can spend your days getting the most out of your adventure and not fretting about draining your bank account. So why wait another day to book your travel plans?   Thailand Travel Costs. Accommodation – Thailand is very cheap, though the north is far cheaper than Bangkok and the southern islands. You can find cheap guesthouses for as little THB (9 USD) per night in cities and THB (6 USD) per night in the countryside, though in the big cities like Chiang Mai and Bangkok, rooms start at about THB (12 USD) per night.

      No, a visa-on-arrival can only be extended at immigration for another 7 days, if my memory serves correctly. Alternatively, you could cross the border somewhere (e.g. into Laos or Vietnam) and come straight back, giving you another 15 days in Thailand. Or you can get out of the country and fly back to Thailand, giving you another day VOA.   My first trip to South East Asia and I want to do it in segments or by geographical locations making travel much easier. For example doing Laos and Vietnam in one trip or Thailand Malaysia and Singapore in another trip. I will have 17 to 21 days each time traveling to South East Asia.

      Over the past couple of weeks I stayed at eight hotels and guesthouses on Phuket in Thailand — at Nai Yang and Surin beaches in the north and Phuket Town to the south. For seven of the eight, I booked at least one night through Agoda with an average night costing baht net. Did I save money. Thailand’s beaches are definitely better but Vietnam’s landscapes are stunning and wins hands down. Vietnam does have some good beaches, but they are not as attractive or plentiful as Thailand. Touring around Vietnam is certainly cheaper at this stage but less organised and developed, with fewer : The Thaiger.
